I'm Angel, a 38 year old guy who started a journey in the year 2000 to fix my dating life after breaking up with a girlfriend. I took the breakup pretty hard and it forced me to reconsider my approach to dating, relationships and life.
Today I'm head of Dating Skills Review and the host of the DSR Podcast. I interview different men and women with specialist experience and knowledge in dating, sex and relationships every week. My Story - How I Ended Up Here
A lot has happened since I broke up with that girlfriend. I found the Pickup artist community and jumped straight in with a real passion. I studied their materials and anything else I could find that was relevant, experimented a lot, and have been exploring my sexuality, relationships and lifestyle ever since.
I became a lot more successful with women very quickly - within a few months I was dating multiple attractive women. I remember how shocked I was, that the knowledge I was learning, could change my dating life so quickly. Before this, I had thought dating was a part of life I couldn't control or change.
By serendipity, I met Neil Strauss through a mutual friend in London in 2002 and this led to me being brought in to the original exclusive "Mystery's Lounge" forum (started by Erik von Markovik) where the guys who were getting real success with women at the time discussed, shared and developed their ideas in private.
In 2003 I founded Impact Interaction with two of my pickup artist friends of the time. It was the first European bootcamp training company and was referenced in the bestselling book about the seduction community's development "The Game" by Neil Strauss. In 2005, we sold that company so that we could pursue other goals in other parts of the world - we all felt that it was time to leave the UK and focus more of our energies on building a better lifestyle.
Since my journey started I have dated 100s of attractive women from all over the world and from many different backgrounds (models, executives, waitresses, airline hostesses, secretaries etc. etc). In the first years, while I was exploring my sexuality and looking for new experiences and adventures, I dated multiple women at the same time, while also playing the field. Some of these were healthy long term relationships that lasted years - one lasted nearly a decade. Of course I had many failures along the way too.
In recent years I've decided to commit to a monogamous lifestyle. At any time, I'm typically in an exclusive relationship with a girlfriend, who I travel and live around the world with. I've had many outstanding relationships and I continue to learn - I feel there's still quite a bit more for me to explore - it's a life long journey of searching for what's right for me - leads to real satisfaction and a feeling that I've lived life completely on my terms, with some exceptional partners.
I'm still learning and making mistakes. In fact, I'm not sure this journey is ever completely over. But also... I am satisfied with where I've got to. I'm really happy.
So Why Dating Skills Review?
In 2008 I saw that there was a problem with the dating advice industry (including pickup artistry and everything else) as it grew larger and larger. An insane number of companies, coaches, and books and trainings had appeared. This was good and bad. It was good because there was all this useful information I'd never had when I was learning. But on the other hand, there was a lot of terrible information too from coaches or companies that obviously had no success themselves in the area they were trying to teach - but were just trying to make a quick buck from it.
This was having a horrible negative impact on many men. For those unlucky enough to try out the wrong product, method or advice - through no fault of their own - they wasted time, became frustrated and didn't get the results they were looking for. Some became disillusioned and got to a worse place than where they had started. It was terrible to see all this unnecessary frustration which ultimately made everyone worse off - the frustrated guy and the girls on the receiving end of the bad advice he was using.
So I decided to create Dating Skills Review to help men navigate the increasingly confusing pile of pickup, dating, relationship, sex and lifestyle advice.
Since then, as an editor, I've read 100s of books and courses and invested 1000s of hours in researching and experimenting with different methods, techniques and approaches. It's helped me refine my own skills and improve my life - while also allowing me to help other men reach up to take control of their dating lives, develop the skills and build the lifestyle they want.
Along the way I've also persuaded some very experienced and successful guys that I trust to join Dating Skills Review as editors and help men with their knowledge also. We're a small team - experienced men in this area are hard to find - so if you or someone you know has what it takes, reach out to me - we're always looking.
My Previous Life
Prior to my journey in the 'game' and dating, I led a typical corporate career. I worked in the management consulting industry as a strategy consultant advising executives in Fortune 500 companies. My dream job. I attended a top business school. My dream school. But... I really wasn't happy and I didn't know how to fix it. Eventually I left it all behind me and built a lifestyle I love. Funny as it sounds, all these changes came about because of what I learned from dating and relationships. This journey isn't just about dating - it sparks other changes in your life. Dating is only the beginning.
You see... my first love has always been 'freedom', although I didn't know it. I've spent my life trying to build a lifestyle around that theme. Dating, relationships and sex has been a huge part of that exploration and it released me to explore freedoms in other parts of my life.
I am fortunate to speak five languages and have lived in many different countries and cultures over my life in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa. I typically spend between 6 months to 3 years in each country before moving on to explore again.
